The Kingdom of Heaven
The gospel of God’s Kingdom is good news to an upside-down, broken and hurting world.
In fact, what if I told you that the “gospel” you grew up hearing - the one popularized in the Western world about Jesus - is likely a wide misrepresentation of the gospel as presented by the New Testament.
Many Westerners, since the time of the Enlightenment onward, have misread the Gospels through the eyes of Western individualism. Meaning that the salvation that Jesus offered is viewed merely as a private matter rather than a public and corporate reality.
Why does this matter? Because the gospel (meaning “good news”) of Jesus was never meant to be just about “my” own salvation, instead the gospel is meant to be God’s good news to a broken and hurting world!
It is meant to transcend private and personal boundaries to create a NEW SOCIAL REALITY - one that looks like alleviating oppression, suffering and other present day injustices that plague our current planet.
The real gospel bids followers of Jesus to action, relieving social oppressions that would try to make earth hellish rather than heavenly.
The gospel is just that, God’s way of making heaven more and more visible on earth. Oh yea…“On earth as it is in heaven.” ~Jesus
